Miikka's Dad
I received a picture of Miikka's dad the other day.
FTCH AFTCH Revilo Spirit of Independence lives a wonderful retirement with his golden retriever buddies.
His owner told me "Satch" was actually moving to Arizona in the coming weeks, and that sounds like exactly what retired dogs should do.
Satch was owned by Gunther Rahnefeld. Gunther taught me so much about dogs and dog breeding. He had a PhD in genetics and not only owned NFC AFC FTCH AFTCH Yankee Independence, but bred her once and that breeding produced TWO additional National Champions, one of which was owned by Gunther. (NFTCH AFTCH Call Me Mister Independence)
Gunther sadly passed away a year or so ago, and Satch now lives with his son Karl.
Satch was also a product of a breeding that Gunther arranged and I am proud to own one of his FEW daughters.

9 Lives
I think we all know by now that Libby has had a rough luck start.
Broken jaw and broken leg by 10 weeks old in two separate occurrences.
That was just the start of it.
You see, Libby has already used up 4 of her 9 lives. Putting her in bubble wrap is now a consideration for her.
This picture is what most of the pictures of her look like. Libby burning rubber, out of the shot. It does show a great view of the scar on her tongue though. Click on the pic to see it better.
You see, shortly after she broke her jaw and her leg I was understandably hyper-aware of what Libby was up to at any given minute. I was careful not to have her around any questionable dogs so as not to have a repeat of the broken jaw. There are only 2 dogs on Kenny's truck I can't trust her around. They can be a wee bit cranky around obnoxious puppies.
Well, this particular day one of the dogs had to come off the truck to work, so I took Libby off her leash and put her in her x-pen. How could she get hurt in there, right?
Well, as the one particularly cranky dog walked by, Libby stuck her tongue through the bars of the x-pen to say hi and this dog grabbed onto her tongue and proceeded to try to pull Libby through the bars to finish the job.
Poor Libbs. She can't catch a break.
I'll leave Libby's fourth suicide attempt for another time.

Sisters
Now that Libby knows how to sit (for a couple of seconds anyways), it is a lot easier to take a picture of her and her big sister Matti.
Libby and Matti had quite the fabulous time playing after Matti ran the water blind.
FC AFC Perpetual Dizzy Daisy waiting her turn.
This is Long's Peak (at the far right hand side of the picture). At 14,000 feet and snow covered, it was a lovely back drop to training.

Good Week-end
Just got back from a trial in Nebraska. Had a great time.
My proudest moment was Darbi doing a very nice job as test dog in the last series of the Open. She showed that she belonged with the big dogs. Kenny called her a "warrior" after her effort, and he was right.
Miikka came into season, so she will not run another trial until we get back to Canada.
Very proud of all the Elmingo babies this week-end!
Elmingo's Chasing A Whim (Adey) got an Amateur JAM in Montana
Elmingo's With One Twist (Matti) got a Reserve JAM in the Qualifying in Nebraska
Elmingo's Prime Suspect (Meg) got a CM in her first Junior in Ontario
PLUS
Elmingo's In Hot Pursuit (Maggie) got a RCM in a Qualifying in BC last week-end.
Two Elmingo puppies ran a Qual in BC this week-end, and I haven't heard how they've done yet.
These are pups from Tiger x Darbi, Shaq x Miikka and Prime x Darbi. I'm so thrilled to hear they are doing well.

Pedro
I got some pictures of Pedro yesterday!
He's still pretty "green", but learning how to be a racehorse. Apparently he has an affinity for dumping his exercise riders.
He is still a few months away from the races, and that is only if everything goes well.

Fanny The Unplanter
This made me laugh out loud.
It seems Fanny has a fondness for potted plants.
Her owner says they will forego the planted annuals this year...for obvious reasons.
